We've lived in our town for almost nine years and I've said just about every Summer that I want to go to the Lavender Festival. It's been on our Summer fun list numerous times but we either can not go because we are busy or we just don't feel like getting ready to leave the house on a perfectly good lazy Summer day but this year I declared we were going to go!
Of course it was very hot but we went right when it opened at 10 am in hopes to beat the crowds and some of the heat.
The fields of lavender were beautiful and the smell was even better!
Artists were set up all around painting their gorgeous masterpieces.
I believe there were atleast four different types of lavender that they grow. This one below was so pretty almost white compared to the other fields of lavender.
Both of the girls took pictures as we wandered through the fields.
After meandering through the lavender we stopped to watch a puppet show, it was almost 45 minutes long and I was dying for it to be over but Brooklyn enjoyed it. After it was finally over we walked around to find out which lavender treats we wanted to try and the girls decided on ice cream. Kayla chose, salted caramel and Brooklyn chose chocolate lavender. They were both delicious but Brooklyn decided after eating almost half of it that she didn't like it anymore so I happily finished it for her.
While we ate ice cream we enjoyed some music. They hadn't actually started but were warming up so it was still enjoyable.
Checking out the chickens
How pretty is the marketplace they had set up
The girls and I loved the afternoon tea spot but you had to have reservations so maybe next year.
Right before we left we picked up some lavender lemonade, I had been wanting to try this the most because I love fresh squeezed lemonade and I had tried lavender lemonade awhile back from a gourmet food truck and it was delicious. Unfortunately this lavender lemonade was far from what I had hoped for but it helped cool us off anyhow.
The lavender festival was small and cute and we were only there for about two hours but we all agreed we had a good time and enjoyed it. We weren't sold on coming back every year but maybe just for the pictures of the lavender fields now and then. This spot does have a few other interesting festivals that happen throughout the year that I would be interested in coming too so I'm hoping to make those happen if we are free. This trip with the girls did make it feel like it was officially Summer to me. After being gone all last week and then most of the week just being home we needed to get out and enjoy a morning together doing something other than being at home.

Lavender festival... oh I'd love that. Thanks for sharing!
Beautiful pictures! I love lavender but I don't think I'd like it in ice cream or lemonade. Well, you got to try it and at least now you know!
