Silver Strand Camping

The last week of July we camped at our favorite beach spot down on Coronado Island.   The weather was unusually chilly and the water was freezing but we still of course had a great time!

As soon as we arrive we set up, grab a cold drink and head straight to the water!

It was so cold, the girls didn't last too long out in that water!

I was so happy to bring this girl on her very last camping trip!  We unfortunately had to put her down just a few days ago.   She loved going camping because she would get unlimited walks and so much attention.   Her arthritis had gotten so bad that she could not walk much at all and I just new this would most likely be it for our sweet girl.

Showers and riding for the rest of the night!
Both of the girls took turns skateboarding, they are both loving it.

Chris and I played cornhole and I WON, 21-0!!!

Kayla helped out with the hot dogs.  We always do a very simple meal the first night which is usually hot dogs but I am extremely tired of hot dogs so I think I'll be changing that to burgers for the next trip.

I purchased these cute hangers off of Amazon for the girls bunks.  I knew they'd be perfect for all their goodies they bring along.

I asked for one picture of the girls and I,

finally after many takes I got one decent picture.

S'mores!

An overcast morning at the beach calls for a slow morning with coffee

The sun came up and the tide was low so we explored around a bit and yes it was still pretty chilly out!

The beach is named Silver Strand but the sand is actually the prettiest gold

Kayla found a large hermit crab

After the day at the beach we went out to dinner and I ordered the prettiest and most delicious salmon!

Back at the trailer they wanted ice cream instead of s'mores.

Then there was more skateboarding and bike riding.   The girls always have a great time with glow sticks.  I try to always have a good amount of stock stored in the trailer for them.

We woke up the next day to clear skies and enjoyed our breakfast on the beach.

It was our last full day on the beach and it was a little better weather although the wind picked up throughout the day.

We camp here multiple times a year and have been for over five years and this was the most crowded we have ever seen this beach!

The water so cold this entire trip that the girls barely went in.  Most of the trip was spent on the sand playing.

The towel was almost covered with sand due to the wind.

Dinner the last night was tacos so Chris grilled us up some carne asada.

I love this picture of sweet Cali, it didn't matter how cold it was when camping she always just wanted to be near me.   I bundled her up with a blanket to keep her warm and she happily slept.

Firetrucks always drive through the campsite when we are here and all of the kids follow behind them on their bikes, scooters or skateboards and then they usually hand them out stickers before they leave.

We had a good time as usual but the weather and the water temperature were a bummer.   We head back down again soon and fingers crossed the weather and water is warmer so the girls can actually boogie board and I won't be cold the entire time!
