Decorating the Christmas tree is one of my favorite family traditions but first we have to find the perfect tree before we get started. This year we drove two places on Friday night and found the saddest looking trees. It was dark and cold so we decided we would go out Saturday morning and came back home ordered pizza and watched a Christmas movie. Saturday morning the girls were not so happy to be getting ready early, early meaning 9:30 to them but I wanted to get it taken care of before it got too crowded. Once we arrived to find our tree they were their happy selves and all was good.
While Chris and I were searching for the perfect tree, the girls were off wandering around. They came back and told me they found the tree and wanted me to come look. At this point I thought they were fooling around and I really didn't want to walk over to find a two foot tree but they assured me they found the one. So I eventually walked over and sure enough the tree they found was the tree we left with!
Daddy trapped her in!
Kayla tied her sister to walk her like her dog
Back home Chris got the lights on the tree
That night I got our appetizers ready and we snacked and laughed before the girls got started on decorating the tree.
While I drank champagne Brooklyn made her own fun fruity drink. She loves creating fun and pretty drinks.
I highly recommend letting the kids decorate the tree! I love sitting back and watching them do the decorating. After spending an entire day every year decorating the house it's nice to sit and drink some champagne while they put all the ornaments on.
Once they were almost done I brought out some cute cookies.
Then it was time for the star.
Kayla could not put the star on this year due to her knee so Brooklyn got to do it. Poor girl is too big to be held up but still a little too small to reach on her own.
So proud of herself!
Every year the girls get an ornament for their own trees they have in their rooms.

An art ornament for Brooklyn and crutches for Kayla.
I picked up this caramel tasting box at Trader Joe's and knew it would be perfect for this night. We had fun taste testing the caramels and writing down our answers of which flavor each one was. Daddy was the winner and we were all overloaded on chocolate afterward but it was a good time.
Every year we have fun decorating the tree. The girls always get a little crazy and it never fails that I get a little angry for a moment because ornaments are falling because they are screwing around too much but the night always ends with way too much laughter and lots of new family memories!

It is beautiful, Shannon. I simply love your traditions. And those cookies look delicious! Did you bake or buy them? Your girls are as adorable as always. Have a wonderful season together!
You have the best traditions and plan the most fun activities! Those ornaments are perfect for your girls. I can't believe Brooklyn is almost as tall as Kayla now!
