Cross Country Banquet & CIF

Kayla had her cross country banquet in the beginning of November.  She was so excited to be receiving her Varsity letter and was even more surprised when she was given the Cougar Award  which only one boy and one girl from the entire team receives.

These three have become close friends throughout this season and I'm so grateful for them.

The season was done for all the cross country teams except for the Varsity girls who were moving on to CIF prelims.

Brooklyn was super sick but wanted to come cheer on her sister.  Kayla was under the weather as well but not as bad as poor Brooklyn.  We stopped and grabbed a Starbucks tea which of course helped her feel better ;)

Ready to run one of the hardest courses in Southern California!

Just one of the hills they get to run up on their three mile race.

Happy it's over!
Kayla did not finish where she wanted to be but was having trouble with her breathing since she was sick.  The best part was that her team took third place overall which moved them to CIF finals!!

Kayla's cousins came out with their noni to cheer Kala on.

Kayla and her amazing coaches this year! They told Chris and I numerous times throughout the season how Kayla was the hardest working kid on the team which of course made us so proud.

CIF Finals took place exactly one week after the prelims and were once again at Mt. Sac.

Kayla was still not feeling 100% which ultimately made it really hard for her to beat her time from the previous week.  She had trouble breathing again during the race.

Again she did not finish where she wanted to but things happen and still what an amazing experience for this sophmore being able to run in the CIF finals with some of the best runners in Southern California.

The girls

What a season for this girl!
We are so beyond proud of Kayla she worked so hard and deserved everything she got this season.  She truly learned how much hard work pays off!
