First Day of 8th and 11th Grade

Whether we wanted it to happen or not our Summer came to an end.  Brooklyn was very excited to be back, she missed seeing all of her friends everyday while Kayla was not excited at all.  I was with Kayla and was wishing Summer could last a few weeks longer!  Unfortunately that wasn't going to happen so we made the best of it.

I usually set out little goodies for them to find after they get home from their first day but since Kayla wouldn't be home until that evening due to cross country practice I set them out the morning of.

A writing/drawing journal, cute flower post it notes, m&m's and some lip gloss that they tried out right away.

I got up and made breakfast for everyone which I normally don't do on school mornings because it's already pretty chaotic and everyone is coming and going at different times but I wasn't working this day so it worked out.

The girls ate and got their lunches ready.

I cleaned up the kitchen and then sat to enjoy some quiet while they were back getting ready.

Eventually it was time to go.

My super excited eighth grader.
Her last year of middle school!

My not so excited eleventh grader.
Can't believe we are so close to the end of high school for this girl!

Wasn't it just last year they were off to preschool and first grade?

This was the first year I didn't take Kayla to school, she now drives herself.  I still get to take Brooklyn though and I'm never going to complain again about having to do drop off or pick up because it's sad not doing it. Even when your thirteen year old litterally runs out of the car to get to her friends!

I headed out to run all the errands while the girls were in school and I could not believe it was raining.  Never have we had a rainy first day of school.

Costco and some fun Fall finds took my mind off the fact that those lazy days of Summer were officially over.

Both of the girls had okay days.  Brooklyn's excitement had gone away by the time I picked her up because she said she didn't have any friends in her classes and they seemed like they were going to be boring this year.  Since then she is back to her happy self everyday because she said her classes are better now.  Kayla was just so so about her day as well but she already didn't really want to be back.  I will say she is enjoying school a bit more this last week due to a certain new friend she has met which has made her a little more excited to be going everyday!
