Kayla had the honor of being asked by her coaches to race the 1600 at The Simplot Games up in Idaho this past February. She was very excited for this oppurtunity and of course we were happy to tag along to support our girl.
Eating breakfast burritos donated to the kids from Farmer Boys.
We drove to Salt Lake City, Utah to stay one night just to break up the drive.
Bathroom breaks with this cutie. She was a little bitter about missing 3 days of school, Valentine's day and the the school dance.
We don't see this in CA
After a ten plus hour drive we arrived in SLC. We all met at the Post Malone Raising Canes which was fun for everyone.
They had a vending machine full of items to purchase. Brooklyn wanted a Post Malone Canes tshirt.
Raising Canes paid for all of our runners meals!
After dinner we checked into our hotel and went to bed. We were up the next morning to eat breakfast and then head up to Idaho. We ran into our girl at breakfast before she loaded up in the van to head out with her teammates.
Brooklyn was road trip ready,
music,
hot chocolate,
stuffed animals from her boyfriend
It was a beautiful drive we went from a little snow here and there to lots of snow!
We arrived in Idaho and checked into our hotel to find it was nothing like we expected and their description of a little construction in the rooms was a lie and there was no way we would be staying there. Thankfully the hotel across the street was much better and was were Kayla and her team was staying. We got settled and then drove to the Holt Arena in Pocatello to watch Kayla race.
It was VERY exciting and her first time running on an indoor track. She did good but her time was not fast enough to move on the finals. We were all just happy she got the opportunity to go.
The next day we woke up it was snowing!
We love us some snow!
This day was supposed to be our sightseeing day but that was changed due to the weather so instead we drove back to the Holt Arena to watch a few of the other kids race and hang out with Kayla for a bit.
After a few hours we left to go check out a nearby brewery which also had a delicious food truck outside so we got dinner as well.
Brooklyn was happy with her ginger beer
I loved hanging out in the snow!
Back at the hotel Brooklyn drew while we watched t.v.
We decided we were going to head home a day early since Kayla was done racing. We figured we could save some money. When we left the next morning it was six degrees!
We said our goodbyes to Kayla since she was staying with her team. She sent me a picture of their hotel room, the night before her and the girls in her room took their beds apart to make a fort. I laughed out loud, they might be be sixteen but they are still little girls.
Chris remembered I saw this building on the way and I mentioned it looked pretty so on the way home he made sure he timed it up so we could eat lunch there. The food was really good and they had a cute shop as well as delicious ice cream!
After that we made the long haul home, 13 hours of driving but so worth it to sleep back in our beds. It was a really fun trip and such a great experience for Kayla!

What a great trip you all had! I love the snow too - the problem in CT is that it's like 6 degrees and snow for about 4 months! So glad warmer temps are finally here!
Enjoy your summer with your girls!
