Blanket of White

Just like we hoped we woke up to snow on Tuesday morning.
It usually snows here once or twice a year but in the past 4 Winters that we have lived here we have never had this much snow.
My husband and I grew up about an hour from where we live now and never had snow except for maybe the occasional snow flake here or there that would fall once every 5 years or so but never stayed on the ground.
Needless to say it is so fun to be able to live where it really snows and stays on the ground enough to enjoy it for atleast a day.

We woke up around 6am and I told the girls after they ate some breakfast we could head out to play in it.

The sun was barely out but the girls didn't seem to mind one bit.
Brooklyn loved the crunching noise as she took her steps while Kayla loved throwing snowballs.

Our Candy Snowman

Isn't she cute?
Our dog liked her too considering she ate all the candy right after we walked away

Kayla had school but I was just thinking I would keep her home so we could play all day but after playing outside for about thirty minutes we came in and were getting warmed up when she said she wanted to go to school.
I made sure she knew that they probably wouldn't play outside today and that she is going to miss playing outside with Brooklyn and I and she said she was okay with that.
Luckily for me I still had time to make her a lunch and get us all changed into some dry clothes.

As we were running out the door I grabbed my camera
Soooo glad I did because everything looked amazing!
Below is our park covered in snow.

It was strange seeing this much snow it felt like we lived up in the mountains

Every morning that I take Kayla to school we drive by this field which is always filled with  cows and the beautiful mountains in the background.
The colors of it change everyday depending on the clouds, sun, etc. so this morning when I saw how beautiful it was I had to pull into a parking lot to take a few pictures.
This one below just might be my favorite picture of the day.

After dropping Kayla off at school Brooklyn and I came back home and watched cartoons for a little bit and then she wanted to go back out and play so we bundled her back up and headed out.

By now there was water dripping down everywhere from the snow melting off of the roof and standing under it while the cold and giant drops fell on her was her favorite thing.

I let her play until I could see her boots were soaked and then made her come in which she was fine with because it was just about lunch time.

I was worried about Kayla and hoping she wasn't upset because she wasn't playing in the snow but when we picked her up she said they got to play a little bit outside and she said she had a lot of fun with all her friends so I was happy to hear that.

By the evening just about all of the snow had melted away.
I'm a little sad that I don't get to wake up to a blanket of white tomorrow morning but I don't want to complain too much because I know I would not want cold snow for weeks at a time.
It was fun while it lasted and now that we have had our yearly snowfall I think it's just about time for Spring to come along although a few more Snow Days spread out wouldn't be so bad :)

It's so funny to read this as I sit here waiting for the snow that is hitting us today (and I'm not happy about it!). Glad you guys got to enjoy it!

Loving your new header. Especially the tulips!

We got a whole bunch of snow last night. It sure looks pretty, but I hope it doesn't last too long. It is fun for the kids though since it really hasn't snowed here this winter. Your girls sure look like they had lots of fun playing in their winter wonderland. That photo with the cows and the mountains is beautiful!

We got a lot of snow last night! Which is not unusual for MN though. :)
Your pictures are gorgeous! The scenery is so beautiful. And how sweet is that picture of your girls' stuff drying by the fire. That made me smile!

Cute snowman! We are having winter weather after weeks of nice weather. It is nice but I am ready for our nice weatehr to come back.
I really like your mason jar with pictures in it. I may have to try something like that with a picture of the kids from Hawaii last year.

How beautiful! I love the landscape photo of the pasture. The girls look so cute in their warm winter clothes. I know they had a blast. We didn't get any real snow this winter, unlike last year.

LOVED all your pictures Shannon!!!
That one of the field and the cows is seriously gorgeous! I think you should blow it up and frame it and you will always remember that "snow day" and your girls out there enjoying it. What fun.

I loved, loved, loved this post Shannon! Your pictures are so very clear and beautiful, the one of the 2 girls in front of their playgym, the cows in the field (do their feet get cold?), all of the pics were just gorgeous.
I was showing my 8 year old son all of your snow and explaining how SoCal doesn't usually get snow like this and he thought you guys were so lucky, he even asked why God doesn't make it snow in Australia? Sweet :)
Bet your kids had fun!!
Thanks for sharing!! Stay warm xo

The snow looks amazing. I agree one day is just perfect. I don't think I could take too much more of it. The girls looked like they enjoyed it so much. They sure are adorable. You're a good mommy!

Hello Shannon,

I'm glad that the girls had the chance to enjoy the snow.

They were certainly dressed for it.

I love the picture of that cute
Candy Snowman. I think it deserves some banner attention, a frame in the girls room or to be pinned.
I couldn't find a pin it button
and I don't have one yet on my laptop. I will have to check back and pin the cutie pie.

I also like your new font and the turquoise color.

I hope you had the chance to check out that free photography class today.

Enjoy your day! :)
