Santa Barbara

Kayla had this week off from school so we took a little trip up to one of my very favorite cities, Santa Barbara.
I made the reservations last Tuesday when the weather called for warm, sunny skies but wouldn't you know it the following Wednesday the weather changed calling for rain and thunderstorms.
Luckily they were wrong and although we did have cooler weather than we had hoped for we only had rain one evening.

We left Monday morning and headed straight to the Santa Barbara Zoo.
The last time we were at this zoo was when I was pregnant with Kayla and we couldn't wait to one day bring her here.

I love that the zoo is the perfect size for little ones. You can easily see everything in less than two hours.

Both of the girls had a lot of fun, although we did have a few moments since they were both tired.
Neither of them napped on the ride up, they were too excited.

Kayla was so excited to see animals she had never seen in person before, the lion especially.

Before leaving the girls picked out one special friend to leave with, Brooklyn went straight for the pink, purple and sparkly animal which is so true to her personality and Kayla knew right away she wanted a giraffe.

After a couple of hours spent at the zoo we went to check into our hotel.
We stayed at the Fess Parker Doubletree and loved how pretty the property was and it was right across the street from the beach.
Unfortunately we didn't get to go down to the sand at all because it was windy and cold.
Brooklyn kept asking the entire time we were there if we could go to the beach and we told her no it was too cold and she would tell us she just wants to build a sand castle with a little bit of water.
Hopefully we can go back and enjoy the beaches next time.

Once we got settled in we went to State Street to walk around and find somewhere to eat for dinner.

I don't think there is an ugly building in Santa Barbara.
There is so much to see and do there it is amazing.
I'll be back with more of our trip soon!

Beautiful pictures! I have always wanted to go to Santa Barbara. Years ago I loved the soap opera Santa Barbara. One day we need to drive to So. Ca and visit all of the cute beach towns along the way.
