Getaway Day One

Last Sunday hubby and I dropped the girls off at their grandparents and we set off on our little getaway.   We were headed up to stay in Pismo Beach and excited to visit Paso Robles to do some wine tasting.  The drive is only about four hours and I knew I wanted to make a few stops if possible to check out some towns I'd never been too before.

First up was Solvang, I had heard about this town being a big tourist attraction so I wanted to check it out and see what it was all about.   Other than the delicious burgers at Solvang Brewary I was not at all impressed!

We ate, walked around for about ten minutes and then I was ready to go.

While walking back to the car I looked up how far we were from a little town called Los Olivos.  We were not far at all so we made the short drive over and even the drive was picturesque.  I already loved the place but once we parked at the small town which consisted of a General Store, a few boutiques and mostly cute wine tasting rooms I fell in love.  This place was sooooo charming, I would've been happy staying three nights there!

After we wandered around a bit we visited a very cute wine tasting room and bought a glass each to enjoy out on their back patio.

Eventually we had to leave to make our way to our hotel.  We were only about an hour away which didn't matter a bit since the scenery was beautiful on our drive up.  Once we arrived at our hotel and checked in we headed over to check out the ocean views which could not be beat!

Amazing!

We then decided we had to head down the long set of stairs to check out the beach and that was just as beatiful.

After exploring the sand we headed back to our room to get settled and tried to figure out where we wanted to eat dinner.  Neither one of us was that hungry after eating the giant burgers for lunch but I was hoping for a glass of wine and maybe some appetizers by the sea.   We decided that a drive up to Morro Bay would be fun since we'd never been there and it looked like there were some places to eat up there.  It was about thirty minutes away so we went for it.

We came, we saw, we left!
We were not impressed at all with Morro Bay, it was not as pretty as you hear, there were no decent places to eat there and it was very touristy and dirty so we headed over to a cute little Bistro I found while looking online in San Lois Obispo and ordered our drinks and split some appetizers.  It was the perfect way to end our day of adventures!

It looks like so much fun to explore new towns! And you found some really pretty ones. You'll have to make a "we have to go back here" list!
