The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

We have had so much fun this month and being busy just about every weekend did not bother me one bit!  Our home was decorated right after Thanksgiving which of course meant we needed to add a special red bow to our sweet Squiggles cage.  I think she enjoys staring at the tree just as much as I do.

Brooklyn was dressed in her Christmas outfits as soon as December began.

Christmas cuddles while watching cartoons

Brooklyn had practice and it was cold, 48 degrees and windy!  One of her coaches left and then came back with Starbucks hot chocolates for all the girls.

Just too sweet!

I love baking during the month of December!
These are the most delicious biscotti!

I've wrapped a lot of presents in the past few weeks.

Brooklyn came home with so many gifts from friends this year and even one from a boy.   She loves cats so he got her this coin bag and the necklace.  He told her, "I think the diamond is real"  haha.

Reading with Christmas decorations all around is the best

Soccer finally ended on the second weekend of December.  I'm looking forward to having soccer free weekends for awhile.

We had a family housewarming/Christmas party to go to which ended up being a nice kick off to the Christmas festivities.

It was pajama day at school for this cutie

She also had her third grade Christmas performance which we all loved.

Gonna miss this view!!!

Letters from Santa arrived and the girls apparently made it on the nice list.

We have three full weeks off for Winter Break and the first week has been amazing.   The girls and I went to see The Grinch and it was so cute.  It will definitely be added to our Christmas movie collection once it comes out

I've woken up to toys all over the house and games out being played all week.   Even our elf, Elfie was ready to play Monopoly with them.

The girls wanted to decorate some more cookies for Christmas

They said they were gonna make them prettier than at the cookie party because they wanted to put them out for Christmas day.  They came out really good!

I had a canvas laying around and saw this cute idea on Pinterest so of course I asked the girls to go along with it.  Kayla looked at me like I was crazy but it turned out adorable.

I love my Rudolph!

Over dinner one night we asked the girls what kinds of things they wanted to do in 2019 and they both agreed another soccer game like we went to last year over break.   I found tickets for a few days later and off we went.  It was a lot of fun and I loved that they both brought stuffed animals to cuddle with.   These little things remind me that they are still my little girls!

We found our elf, Elfie reading the story of Christmas to all of his pals the other day.

The last two days have been spent baking.  This year I tried a new recipe and made chocolate peppermint macaroons and they might just be my new favorite cookie!

Our sweet kitty enjoying the warmth of the fireplace

Trying to fit in a lot of walks the last few days I'm hoping it helps with the treats I'll be eating for the next month or so.

My baking buddies have helped me a lot this year.  We were making Snickerdoodles below and had the perfect assembly line going on.

Christmas at night with all of the twinkle lights is just too pretty

Last night we had our annual Polar Express night which I'm now changing the name to Christmas Express because that's what it says on the tickets they use every year.  Anywho the girls didn't think we were going to go because the Christmas lights that we usually go to see don't do it anymore so Brooklyn especially was really excited!

Waiting in line to get their ticket punched before they load up in the car.  Six hole punches in each ticket!  I can't believe we've already been doing this for six years!

milk and chocolate covered popcorn waits for them

Since the spot we used to go to no longer does the light show we drove around town and checked out all of the holiday lights.  It was fun and we were all happy we get to carry on our tradition.

This morning I woke up and walked out to hear Brooklyn reading Christmas books to our elf.   I mean how much better does it get?

Today we baked again, set the table and got some cleaning done.  For dinner hubby picked up Chinese food and we spent the night watching Home Alone all cuddled up together on the couch.  Tomorrow is Christmas Eve and all of the magic will truly begin!

Merry Christmas.
