Last Sunday we surprised the girls with an overnight stay at the Mission Inn. Every Christmas we visit the Mission Inn to take in all of the beautiful lights. This year because of Covid the Mission stated there would be no entry to the hotel unless you were a guest staying. It also stated the outside walkways would be for guests only. A lot of the decor we enjoy seeing every year was in those areas so we decided we should look into just staying the night so we could enjoy all of it.
We were a little early for check in so we spent some time looking around the antique store right across the street.
Then we found this new little shop that was full of handmade gifts and antiques. It was so cute!
Time for check in!
This hotel is absolutely breathtaking and we literally checked in, took our bags to the room and then walked around the entire hotel exploring every single spot we could. I took so many pictures because everywhere we turned was beautiful!
I mean......
it doesn't even look like something in California!
After a little over an hour of exploring we headed off to dinner. Every year we eat at Heroes. The girls have always loved this place because they give you bags of peanuts to crack open, eat and then you can throw the peanut shells on the ground. They think that is so fun but this year there was none of that so it was a little sad but the food was still good and they always have the coldest beers around!
After dinner we headed back to the hotel and walked around a little more.
It was the least crowded we've ever seen and I missed the carolers and the sweet smell of chocolate that was always in the air from the hot cocoa stands.
There were also way less lights than years passed so not much to see outside. I was glad we were actually able to enjoy the lights throughout the hotel even more.
The rest of the night we spent jammied up playing card games and watching Christmas movies!
We slept in and said our goodbyes to one of the prettiest hotels we have every stayed in.
Thankful we were able to stay here and we still got to enjoy one of our favorite holiday traditions.
