Summer Fun List and School's Out!

It's still hard to grasp what school looked like the past few months and the way it ended was not how we wanted it to go.   I always look forward to surprising the girls with our Summer Fun List almost all year and this year it took me so much longer to put it together.  We still aren't sure if we will be able to do much of what is on it but the girls agreed that I should just put it on there and if it happens, happens.   Everything on here is exactly what i would have put on regardless of the pandemic except we are missing two very fun things, a trip to Kauai and an LA Galaxy game.   We know we will be able to go again in the future but it's still a bit sad it can't happen as planned this Summer.

Last week was the "official" last week of school and Kayla's National Juniors Honor Society teacher dropped off a pin and card for her.   She will be in Honors Society again next year and fingers crossed she can be back on campus to help plan ways to help the community with all of her peers.

On Wednesday she had to turn in all her books, pick up her yearbook, pick up her art and all her supplies.  Afterwards her and I headed to Target to try and find her a swimsuit.  We stopped by Tilly's to exchange some flip flops she had gotten months ago and then grabbed some lunch to eat in the car together.

I love spending one on one time with this girl!

Thursday was the last day of school and Brooklyn had to drop off her books so I told both of the girls to get dressed because I would still be taking 'last day of school' photos.

We drove over to the elementary school and got out to take a few pics and drop off Brooklyn's books.

We were so bummed this year was cut short because Brooklyn's teacher is one of the best and makes learning so fun. She missed out on so many fun activities not being able to be in her class.

It was lunch time so we all went to Sonic and told the girls they could get lunch or pick out a dessert.  What do you think they chose??

Back at home there were some Summer goodies waiting for them

A longboard skateboard is something they had both been wanting to use their money to buy.  I figured they could share a much cheaper priced version of what they wanted to make sure they like it and then they can choose to spend hundreds of dollars on the one that they want.  It was a hit!

These girls have been through quite the year so far and have remained so optimistic.  Brooklyn missed her friends now and then but whenever I would have conversations with Kayla she would always reply with, "it's okay, life will go on" and it's true, life will go on!  I'm so proud of them and their good attitudes through all of this!

Your girls have such an optimistic view of life, I absolutely love it! You're doing a great job, mom!
