Back to School!

Today was Kayla's 1st day back at school, although she is still in Preschool, they consider it Pre-K I guess, it was harder for me this time knowing that this is the last year where she will only go a few times a week.
Next year she will be gone Mon. through Fri. and I don't even want to think of how grown up she will look by the end of this school year.

I dropped her off and she was so excited!
She told me as we walked to the classroom, "this is going to be such a fun day at school!"
I walked her into class and showed her her cubby and told her this where she could put her jacket in when it's cold or if she doesn't want to wear her headband anymore to put in her cubby so it will not get lost.
She immediately said "okay Mom, I'm gonna go play"
I asked if I could have a hug and kiss goodbye first and she happily agreed.
I said my goodbyes and watched her join the other kids to play in the class.
I turned as I walked out the door and saw the teacher pull one of the little boys who was crying over to her so she could comfort him.
His mother walked past me with tears in her eyes to meet her husband outside who reminded her right away that their son would be fine.

 .

I immediately put on my sunglasses as tears built up in my eyes.
I thought how happy it makes me that Kayla loves going to school and that I'm grateful that there are never any tears whenever I leave her.
But as I got in the car and really started to think about how much she has changed in just the last year I lost it thinking, how none of this is fair.
How they are too young to be sad and scared and how their sweet innocence will soon be gone.
I wish she could just stay young forever so I could always hear her sweet laugh and watch her being silly or dance around the house with Brooklyn.
We all know she can't and I just have to let it be and hope that she continues to grow into the polite, beautiful little young lady that she already is.
 .

She had a blast at school today by the way, she said she made new friends in her class and played with some of her old friends on the playground.
I'm so happy she is so friendly and loves making new friends.
I couldn't be more proud to be her Mommy!

She is so darn cute! I think she needs to come here and hang with E. She is so shy! It's so painful at times. They say she does great when she is in school and here we are heading into kindergarten which is a new school. Hoping for a smooth transition.

She looks so adorable! Erik's first day is tomorrow. I can't believe how fast time flies.

This whole growing up thing is almost to much for us Mommas to bear. She is a happy girl so you must be doing everything right! It is still sad though. I am right there with you. My oldest is already in 3rd grade :(
