Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve morning started off in the kitchen baking up some blueberry muffins for us to eat while daddy and Kayla headed to Starbucks to get me my very last Peppermint Mocha until next year :(
Once we were all done eating our breakfast the girls made some reindeer food to sprinkle on the grass and we made some to take over to their neighbor friends.
While the girls and daddy took the goodies to the neighbors house I got busy prepping food for Christmas day.
I got a lot done early so I had time to clean a bit more and relax a bit with the girls.
We watched a few more Christmas movies together and then tried to get the girls down for a nap.
I gave up after Brooklyn escaped from her room for the 5th time and instead let them decorate their gingerbread houses.

They both got their own house this year and Brooklyn actually did a pretty good job.
In the beginning she was just handing the candy to daddy and telling him were to put it but eventually took it upon herself  and finished the decorating herself.

They came out so cute and I really hate having to throw them away after Christmas every year!
It always makes me a bit sad

After we were done with the houses, the girls sat down to watch a movie while I made dinner.
Dinner was just about ready when Kayla came over to tell me Brooklyn had fallen asleep.
She looked too cute not to take a picture of but it would have been nice if she had just taken her nap when she was supposed to.

We told the girls that if they were good they could open one present after dinner.
They thought that was a great idea of course.
We picked the one they could open and they could hardly wait.

Brooklyn didn't know how to open the present at first so Kayla was instructing her how to do it as she ripped open hers.
She is such a good big sister!

Remember these from our childhood days??
They are so fun :)

After some playtime the girls took their Christmas Eve bubble baths and got into their matching pj's.

I love matching PJ's on them!
We then headed outside to sprinkle the reindeer food on the grass.
It was pretty cold as you can see, Kayla is freezing but I don't think Brooklyn cared.
We were laughing hysterically watching them toss the food on the grass.
Brooklyn was so cute tossing it on the grass while yelling "here ya go RUDOLPH!"

We came back inside and got Santa's cookies and a carrot ready

Brooklyn was very worried about that carrot and kept moving it to the perfect spot.
If the dog or cat got near the table she ran over and would tell them no.
It took us awhile to pry her hands off the carrot :)

Daddy read 'Twas the Night Before Christmas' to the girls

Brooklyn was there too but she was too busy guarding the carrot to sit still.
After the story was over we tucked the girls into bed and reminded them to go straight to sleep otherwise Santa would not come.
Funny how nobody got out of bed at all that night, they went straight to sleep ;)

to be continued.....
