Feb. 14th

I woke up at 6am on Valentine's day to take my shower and to make sure I would have enough time to make the heart shaped pancakes that Kayla requested before I took her to school.
Everything was going great except for the few pancakes that I burnt while trying to make Kayla's special Valentine's day lunch with a heart shaped sandwich, heart shaped strawberries and a cute Valentine's day card slipped in as well.

I served the girls their pancakes smothered in syrup just as they like, ran back to blow dry my hair real quick only to come back to find Brooklyn not eating anything.
Instead she was playing with her food which honestly is not uncommon.
Kayla was complaining she was too cold to eat, also not uncommon.

At this point I was getting a little irritated considering I basically made this breakfast for nothing.
I cleaned up Brooklyn and got her down and told Kayla she had 10 minutes left to finish her breakfast because she needed to get dressed, she then tells me her throat hurts a little.

10 minutes went by and there she was still sitting there watching tv instead of eating so I took her plate away as she shoved a bite in her mouth.
This was followed by crying, screaming, then coughing and oh yay now she is gagging and yep here it comes...she threw up all over the floor

As I strip her sobbing little self down and tell her to go wash her hands and that her clothes are on her bed.
I look down at the mess on the floor and wonder (as I often do) why do I even bother?
,

I clean up the mess and the rest of the kitchen wondering if she threw up cuz she is sick or because she was choking, should she go to school or stay home.
I knew she was not going to be happy about missing her Valentine's day party at school.

I decided to keep her home just in case which of course led to a whole lot more tears.

Finally after some cuddling and talking about all the fun we would have at home I found Monsters Inc. on Disney channel and we were back to normal again.
I still had big plans for the day and needed to get my Chai Tea fast so I could turn this day around quick!

It was Valentine's Day and it would not be ruined just because I might have a sick child on hand!

I set up some crayons, a coloring book and a snack I had purchased for the day so the girls could keep busy while I made our heart shaped cake.
Originally they were going to help but since Kayla might be sick I figured I would rather just make it myself and they were fine with that since they had some goodies to keep them entertained for awhile.

By now I am thinking Kayla is not sick and should have just gone to school but too late now.
Besides the day is turning out to be a good one.
They both colored until lunch time and then ate their heart shaped sandwiches while watching a favorite cartoon.

Brooklyn's half eaten sticks mixed in with her crayons, she only ate the parts dipped in the chocolate ;)

I'm not gonna lie I was looking forward to naptime so I could watch some Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and then a good Love movie.
Although I could not find a new movie to watch so I ended up watching an old fav., 'You've Got Mail'

she spent the entire day coloring

Right before naptime I received some beautiful roses at the door from hubby.  The girls and I got them arranged and then they got to pick 1 rose each for themselves.  Brooklyn chose a yellow one and Kayla chose an orange one.  I put them in a vase and in their room and then finally got them down for their naps.   I then got our table set up for dinner.

I had bought a table cloth from Kohl's and once I pulled it out of the dryer I noticed it was ripped so on to plan B which included a huge sheet of craft paper and heart candies sprinkled around.
I actually liked the way plan B looked better  :)

After the girls woke up from their naps they decorated the cake with sprinkles and then once daddy was home they opened up their last present from us.

They were so excited when they opened their presents and saw these little guys.
They are pretty cute.

For dinner I made this.

D E L I C I O U S!

my little monkeys with their little monkeys

The girls took their bubble baths with candles lit just like mommy does and then we ended the day with 'A Charlie Brown Valentine'

It was a good day and it ends up Kayla was not sick so she could've gone to school.
I felt sad all day that she missed out on her school's Valentine's party but she had fun at home with her sister.
Hope everyone had a wonderful day filled with Love!

What a sweet day..minus the sickness. I am glad everything turned around for you. I have moments where I think, why am I doing all of this? Our kiddos are so lucky...to have moms like us! ;) They will appreciate it one day!

You're such a fun mommy! You really put a lot of time and effort into your Valentine celebration. I'm sure your girls loved it!

I love You've Got Mail! Such a great movie! I was just saying to my husband that they don't make movies like that anymore!

Loved following along in your day! Your girls are so sweet, I almost feel like I know them now! I love how you set out the different gifts. How sweet your husband sent flowers and that you shared them with the girls.

Wow those faces are so darling. I understand completely when you wrote, "why do I bother?" I feel that same way sometimes. I have two girls as well. I go to the ends of the earth to do something special and they end up in a fight and don't notice the effort. But then I have to remember that they are still young. And hopefully deep down they know that I do these things to make them feel special and loved.
