Kitchen Accessories

We have lived in our home now for just about 4 years and although it was brand new when we purchased it we did not get to choose what we wanted as far as cabinets, counter tops, tile, carpet etc.
I'm not complaining because we got really lucky considering it is all very nice.
The only thing I would have done differently would have been the kitchen.
I LOVE all white kitchens and our cabinets are dark wood with dark granite.
I have gone back and forth for the past 3 years on whether or not I should paint them but feel so guilty doing so because they are new and nice as they are, just not my ideal kitchen.
I also know what it is like to paint kitchen cabinets and remember the mess, the time and headache of it since I did it in our first home before we even had kids.
It was not fun then and I'm pretty sure it would be much worse now especially with 2 kids running around.
Anywho, I have struggled with decorating this kitchen and getting it to look the way I would like for some time now.
But the other day when taking some time to find the perfect spot for the silhouettes we got of the girls when we were at Disneyland it all came together.

I have always loved silhouettes and had wanted to do a black and white bathroom filled with vintage silhouettes but it just wasn't fitting with the rest of the decor of the house.
So I'm sure you could only imagine what went through my mind once I saw how perfect the girls' silhouettes looked in the kitchen!
It might have just given me a vision of exactly what I want our kitchen to look like and all I need are some new accessories here and there which is a lot cheaper than paint!
Of course I started searching online to find some new cute accessories and here are a few items that might be making there way into our kitchen soon.

Aren't those coffee mugs adorable unfortunately I can't find anywhere stating where to purchase them but you can bet I'll be keeping an eye out for some.
They would be a perfect addition to the silhouettes on the wall and don't worry I don't intend on decorating with silhouettes everywhere at all ;)

We have been wanting to change out our doorknobs with vintage or vintage replica ones for some time and the first one to get done will definitely be the pantry door.
Not sure if this one is the exact one we will use but it is close to the style we like.

This growth chart is on our way to our home now and will go perfect in the kitchen.
I'm thinking I will go back and fill in the growth of the girls and keep it up to date yearly.

I have the perfect spot for this key to hang and the best part about it is that it is a bottle opener so it will surely get it's use!

I don't really have a spot to hang another picture but it is cute.
Keeping it in mind in case I find somewhere for it.

I have this candle and a grouping of a few of my other mercury glass candles together on the kitchen table and I really like how it looks.

I already have a few of these canisters but I'm thinking  I should add a cute chalkboard label to make them a little cuter.

I've had my eye on this dishtowel for awhile now but would really like something similar but with a silhouette on it.
I've searched online for one but can't find anything so if you know of one I would love to hear where I could get it.

I'm sure I will find odds and ends here and there but mainly I love the way the pictures look hanging in the kitchen and once I hang up the growth chart I will be done with the wall areas.
It's funny how different an entire room looks with just a few new accessories.
Now lets just hope I will not get any more urges to paint the kitchen cabinets!

Sounds Fabulous! I will keep my eyes open for you too.I may find a lil treasure here and there.Love the mugs and I already have the chalkboard labels, they are great.
Black and white is so classic, hard to go wrong with that.
I now am in the middle of painting our cabinets from a golden light oak ewe! to a grey.So not fun!
Etsy also sells chalkboard wall labels awesome, if you have a spot.

It looks like you have a good plan for making the whole room come together. Those silhouettes of your girls are adorable. I'll keep my eyes peeled for some mugs :)

Don't you live it when a plan comes together??? Can't wait to see everything!

Try searching silhouette towel on Etsy. I came up with a few things, and a lot of times, sellers are willing to create custom pieces.

I love all of the accessories you chose! Now to find them, huh? I love how you decorate so I'm sure whatever you come up with will be great.
I hate painting, too! I have so much that I want painted. I wonder if I am depreciating our home with my distressing cabinets and such. No plans to move so I figure I may as well just do it the way I want!
Have a great weekend!
