Decorating with Vintage

I love finding unique vintage items to use in decorating our home.
Most of the decor in our home has either been found in an antique shop or at the flea market and when I don't have the time to go out and about and might be a little impatient I purchase it online from etsy.

One of the easiest items to find when out and about or online are vintage books.
I love the way old books look and I think they make a room feel so much cozier.

I have books stacked and scattered throughout our home and you will most likely find them used to display an item on top of them.

I also have a lot of vintage silver, I love the way it looks tarnished and use it to display or hold odds and ends.
I have a few favorite pieces in my master bathroom to hold soaps, tealights and perfume samples,

I have all of my make up somewhat organized in a vintage tool caddy that I picked up from an antique shop.
I got tired of having it under the sink and bringing it out and putting it away everyday so when I picked up this caddy I thought it would make my make up more accessible and would look more appealing sitting on the counter this way rather than my old boring make up holder.

My kitchen also has some fun vintage items.
A vintage scale is a must for any kitchen!
I love changing out the item on top depending on the seasons.
Right now I have this pumpkin on top but have had everything from candles, plants, favorite bowls filled with candy, etc.
They are so fun to use in decorating!

I almost always have flowers in my house and my vase of choice is either a white ironstone pitcher or vintage enamelware pitchers.
Vintage enamelware is fun because they are available in so many different colors.
This one is a mint color which I happen to love!

I love the color of vintage ball jars, they can also be used as a vase for flowers which I use them for sometimes but most often I use them to display fun family photos throughout our home.

Vintage items are also fun to use on the wall.
A few months ago I ordered these plates from Tracey over at French Larkspur.
She had brought them back from France but when they arrived at my house one had completely shattered.
I was so upset because I knew I wanted to hang them.
I spent some time piecing the plate back together and hot glueing each piece.
I'm so glad I did because it came out looking great and you can still see it is broken when up close but I kinda love the way it looks!

I hope I gave you some fun ideas on how to use vintage items throughout your home.
There are so many possibilities you just have to use a little imagination.
I know some people don't always have the opportunity to go out and find a local antique shop but we are so lucky to be able to go on Etsy and find just about anything we want to and have it shipped directly to our homes.
I try to stock my shop with items that I would use in my own home so there is a lot of vintage silver items as well as some other vintage goods I love.
