This Week

Having a short week due to Monday being a holiday sure throws everything off!
Sunday is Brooklyn's birthday and we are celebrating on Saturday with friends and family so I have been busy everyday getting things ready.
Our weather has been all over the place this week going from very hot temps to extremely windy with thundering and down pours.
I've wasted two evenings cleaning the back patio up for the weekend only to have it rain again the next day!
We did have a beautiful rainbow one evening though,

If there wasn't enough to do this week already I added in painting a new dresser for our room.
Husband and I were in need of a nice dresser and I have always loved french provincial furniture so when I saw this dresser for a steal I bought it right away and sent hubby the picture.
He was not thrilled with the flowers on it and I wasn't so much either so he stayed home from work Tuesday and scraped them all off and sanded them.
I quickly coated the dresser in some chalk paint, spray painted the drawer pulls and we threw it in our room.

This is what it looks like today, it's not done it's just good enough for now.
I really want to put a gray wash over it but need to wait and see what we end up with for our bed before I waste the time doing it exactly the way I want.
I just really wanted to have a dresser that we could fit all our clothes in and it's so nice to actually walk into our room and see furniture that goes together!

Brooklyn is such a trooper, she loves to help me around the house which has been great this week.
She's my designated wash cloth folder.

I bought a few new flowers for the yard to get ready for the party this weekend, fingers crossed they aren't all dead by tomorrow thanks to all the rain we got last night!

Homework!
We are in full blown homework now, Kayla has about 30-40 mins. of homework a night.
It comes pretty easy to her but doesn't mean she wants to do it every night.
I think it's ridiculous, they spend all day at school doing work can't they just come home and have fun while they are still little!

Brooklyn's homework doesn't even have to be turned in but she doesn't know that, I still make her do a little each day since she is only in school half days twice a week.
Her's is much more coloring and fun stuff so she enjoys it for now.

entertaining themselves while mommy gets ready to take them to school

Unicorn party prep,
I don't know why I decided to make unicorn cookies and frost them.
So annoying how many of them kept breaking off a tail, leg or horn thingy!

Kayla came home with her first "gift" from a boy, he wrote her a note, " I like you" and gave her one of his little army guys in an envelope.
Daddy does not like this at all!  I'm not too excited about it either, Kayla is constantly talking about this little fella.
It's only first grade!!!  Does this really need to be happening already???

Time please slow down!
Well I'm off to bake and decorate a few dozen cupcakes.
Have a great weekend!

Our weather is perfectly fall-ish. Sunny and crisp and colorful already.

So cute. As for your daughter's little friend. It seems to go in stages, they like the girls when they are real young and then they don't for a while. I wouldn't worry too much. Alaina
