Our Entryway

One of the main reasons I started this blog was to document our daily lives so we would have something to look back on in the future but here and there I like to include some home decorating on here as well.  I love being able to see into other peoples homes and I get so many ideas by visiting blogs so if it's okay with all of you guys I was thinking that I would post bits of our home on here more often, I'll also try and include tips and where I purchased items as well but if I don't mention something be sure to leave me a comment to ask and I'll do my best to help.

First up I thought I'd share our entryway.  I have quite a few chalkboards throughout our home but this was probably the first one that started it all, I purchased it from Mothology years ago.  I recently threw a little boxwood wreath over it because I was tired of my boring writing on the board.  The wreath came in a set of 3 and was from Decor Steals, and if you haven't heard of that site by now you are surely missing out.  I've purchased so many great items from that site!!!
The little bench is by far my favorite vintage item in my house.  It is the same dark wood as the table right across from it and I knew it was going to be perfect in my entryway the moment I saw it.  I found it at a local antique store a year or two ago.   A vintage number 4 from France purchased from here hangs right next to the front door symbolizing our family of 4.

Across from the bench is an entryway table with drawers filled with seasonal garden flags for the front yard and other odds and ends.  A few months ago I switched out the wall which used to have a mirror to start a little gallery wall.  I have a few favorite pictures along with some sentimental items hanging.  The silver plate I found at a flea market and it has the letters SKCB engraved on it which is the first initial to all of our names in our family.  I was pretty excited to find it among the thousands of things there.  The driftwood stick is one my girls found and played with on one of our vacations to Balboa Island.

The top of the table is always changing but right now for Summer I have some seashell topped bottles which can be purchased from my shop, here.  I also placed an urn found from a local antique shop on top of a vintage book which of course is also from an antique shop.  The urn was a dark brown color when I bought it but I knew I could paint it quickly with some craft paint to make it look the way I wanted it to and once I was done I filled it with dried hydrangea's.  The lamp fits in perfectly for Summertime and was from Kirkland's.  They always have great prices on their items and although I don't always find things I like much in their stores their website has so much more to choose from.

Below is the full shot of our entryway table.  The garden tub is from World Market and was from my husband on Mother's Day.  I would love to fill it with indoor plants but my cat, who is already passed his nine lives, thinks that anything plant-like, real or fake is put in the house for him to eat and later throw up!  It's quite annoying but he is the sweetest cat so I guess we'll keep him.

Well that's a little peek of our front entryway which is about to change soon because of course I'll have to decorate for the 4th of July next week but don't worry I'll share that when it's all done too.  If you guys think this is fun seeing bits of our home I'll share more, just let me know?  Of course I will always show our family life but now that the girls are older it is harder to find the time to take photos like I used to plus our days are not as cute to look at like when they were toddlers and all!
