Christmas Eve 2015

Christmas Eve started out with a lot of food prep to prepare for Christmas day.  While I was busy in the kitchen the girls were playing and watching Christmas movies.

I got most of the prep work done early so the girls and I could enjoy the day together.

The girls made their reindeer food with pretty sprinkles and oats,

They taste tested some cookies for me,

watched plenty of  Christmas movies,

and were obsessed with where Santa was at most of the day

When daddy got home from work we snuck a quick celebratory shot in for him and I

and then got our Christmas Eve meal prepared

My father in law joined us this year for dinner and got to share our very favorite bottle of champagne with us

After dinner the girls were dying to open their one gift as promised!

They enjoyed their poppers very much and when Brooklyn was too tired to play anymore we knew it was time to settle down for the night.  The girls took their baths and got into their Christmas pajamas and we all gathered to watch "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" .

After the kitchen was tidied up and my father in law left for the evening the girls gathered their cookies and carrot for Santa and Rudolph.

Daddy read, 'Twas the Night Before Christmas'

and then it was outside in the cold to scatter the reindeer food along the lawn

Next it was off to bed to wait for Santa to arrive.  This was the first year that Kayla was not very excited which broke my heart.  Last year was by far the most excited the girls had ever been for Christmas so I was quite sad to see the excitement so low from both of them.  Brooklyn was still excited but I think since Kayla did not make as big of a deal as usual she was a bit quieter about it than usual.

I'm hoping that next year the excitement will come once again especially after we caught Santa on video arriving in our home that night!

What a cool awesome family you are!!! I loved your Christmas Eve. Love the preparing and the relaxing the girls did. Can't wait to see what Santa brought them... hoping it's in the next post!
