A Last Minute Camping Trip

Wednesday afternoon I decided we should spend the weekend camping.  The weather was going to be amazing and we had nothing planned and since I really didn't know when that would happen again I figured we should take advantage of the situation, so a quick call to hubby and then I was on the phone booking us a spot Vail Lake Resort in Temecula.

The girls were very excited and couldn't wait for daddy to get home from work Friday night so we could we hit the road.  Unfortunately there was traffic so by the time we got to the camp ground it was completely dark.

After everything was set up and the bbq was heating up hubby and I grabbed our drinks and were ready to enjoy the evening.  The girls were already off exploring with flashlights in the dark with some kids of the family we had meet us out there.

Saturday morning bright and early the kids were off exploring once again.  Right behind our spot there was a dried up creek that they spent a lot of time playing in.

They spent most of the time climbing up the mountain and then sliding down on their behinds.  To say they were filthy by the end of the day would be an understatement but we were just happy they were having so much fun!  Below is Brooklyn stuck on her first try up, she was scared to come back down but by the end of the day she had no fear scaling up and down the mountain.

After we ate breakfast we went with the girls so they could explore a little further.

It was very pretty and peaceful.  The campsite was nearly empty which will definitely not be the case the next time we come.

After our little trip exploring we came back and ate lunch.  The girls were really looking forward to doing some miniature golfing so that was up next.  It was pretty hot but we still had a great time.

Some ice cream was up next to help cool us off.
The spot we were sitting in was considered the campsite village where there were tables, a stage and lights strung overhead right next to a little bar.  I can already imagine spending the evening with the kids running around dancing while we enjoy the music and some cold drinks.  I'm already looking forward to the warmer months when we get to come back with friends and enjoy this area.

Once we got back to the campsite the girls were back in the creek getting dirty

At one point Kayla asked "can I take my shoes off and play down there barefoot?"  Ummmm NO, she didn't understand why not because "it's just sand mom!"  The things that run through their little minds!

Before it got too cold we all decided the kids needed showers because they were filthy!

After they were all cleaned up they were back to busy, runing around and riding bikes or scooters.

We ate dinner and gathered around the campfire until the kids slowly trickled off to bed.   Our friends brought out this beer below and I couldn't believe how delicious it was, if you like root beer you will love it.  It tastes exactly like it, you would never know it had any alcohol in it.

Saturday night we all went to bed a lot earlier than the previous night and actually got to sleep in until 7am (that's just sad that is considered sleeping in)

I got coffee and breakfast started pretty quick because we had to get everything packed up soon to head home.

I can't tell you how much I love cooking in this tiny trailer!!  There is nothing better than having the girls running around outside while I am cooking and I get to watch them having the time of their life through that window!

After breakfast it was time to get ready to head home but not before a few more photos of my girls!

These new friends had so much fun together!

This was our view for the weekend, not bad at all!

It was another great trip and might just be my second favorite spot, behind Silver Strands for camping.  We will definitley be coming back and hopefully sooner rather than later!

A little video of the girls, they were enjoying me filming in them in slo motion
