Getaway Roundup

Monday morning we woke up and went to breakfast at the hotel and then walked over to the cliffs with our coffee/tea to enjoy the views.  We did this each morning and it was the the perfect way to start our day while we were there.

Later we got ready to head out to Paso Robles to do some wine tasting at a few wineries we wanted to visit.   We visited four wineries on Monday and every one of them was great!   The first winery, Summerwood, was beautiful and made me think we were in the Hamptons when we got out of our car, the wine was just as good and it definitely had my favorite tasting wines of the trip.

Next up we went to Stillwater.  We were the only ones there when we arrived and the sweet girl told us to find a seat outside and she would happily serve us our tastings and she even brought us out some bread and delicious olive oil that they make..

The grounds were beautiful here too, it was very peaceful, birds and butterflies were flying everywhere while we enjoyed our wine.  These were the olive trees they use to make the olive oil.

We had packed a picnic lunch and decided to eat it here with a favorite glass of wine we tried during our tastings.

We spent a lot of our time at Stillwater and had asked our server what her favorite wineries were and she gave us a few but when hubby looked up August Ridge winery online and showed me the pictures I knew we had to go there next!

They had a red barn that was calling my name

How amazing would it be to live in this house?!

We were once again the only ones tasting at August Ridge and the guy who poured our tastings gave us so much information on how they barreled the wines and how the wines were made.   We REALLY enjoyed our time getting to learn more about how wine is made and getting to taste their wines.

After we left August Ridge we had maybe an hour before the wineries closed so we last minute decided to go to one other winery.  We were told to visit Tobin James last which made sense as soon as we stepped in.  The loud country music and the set up of the tasting room made it seem more like a bar than a winery and it was fun!  The wines were not our favorite but boy did we have fun.   Our night ended there and by the time we got back to our hotel there was no way were going to be going out to dinner so we picked up some dinner and stayed in for the night.

Tuesday morning after breakfast I wanted to walk down to the beach to find seashells and enjoy the views.  It was much too cold to be in swimsuits so we just sat and relaxed for awhile and searched along the tidepools and found a lot of neat treasures.   I was very excited to find a few pieces of sea glass which I have never found before.

We got cleaned up later in the day and headed to downtown Paso Robles and walked around the town a bit, stopped to get coffee and then decided last minute to go to one more winery.  We visited Eberle which we thought was just okay but they offered free wine cave tours so that was very neat being able to go down into the wine caves and see where they keep all their wines and they even have small concerts down there sometimes which looked really fun, wishing we lived closer for that!

After we were done at Eberle we headed to the Firestone Brewary.  We were looking forward to having dinner here and tasting some of their beers since we are big fans of the 805 beer.  We stopped in at the store to look around at all the merchandise and hubby bought a hat and then it was on to dinner.

The beers we tasted were all delicious. The food was very good and I would definitely come back!!

We made it back to the hotel just in time to catch our last sunset before heading home the next morning.

It was hard to say goodbye to those views but I missed my girls so it made it a little bit easier.

On our trip back home we stopped in another cute town called Summerland.  We had been here before because they have a few cute antique shops we have looked through but this time we stopped to eat lunch and walk around for a few minutes before we made the rest of the trip home.

We had a great little getaway and it was really fun going places together that we had never been to.  It's so hard to leave the girls, atleast it is for me but I know it is something we need to do now and then for each other.
