Trim the Tree

It doesn't quite feel like Christmas until we have decorated the tree so I was so happy that we had an entire Satruday afternoon free to spend decorating.   I set out the ornaments while the girls were painting their nutcrackers and added a plate of cookies for us to enjoy.  When the girls were done painting we turned up the carols and the decorating began.

handmade ornaments are always my favorite!

I had to jump in at one point and help they weren't getting the point that the ornaments should be spread out over the entire tree.  I think the dancing and being silly was more important to them.

They wanted to make sure I took pictures of them dancing infront of the tree.

After all of the decorating we enjoyed appetizers for dinner which is a favorite around here.

Saturday was the perfect day to get us all in the holiday spirit.  The girls had so much fun decorating the tree, giggling and dancing around.   The first few years in our home I used to put so much emphasis on the tree looking perfect with ribbon and pretty ornaments and yes I still like it pretty but instead of all that fancy ribbon and ornaments that are beautiful but too breakable for the girls to touch I would much rather have our tree to be completely us, filled with handmade ornaments, photos of our family and ornaments that remind us of fun times together.  Those are the ornaments that we look forward to pulling out year after year and those memories are the ones that mean the most!
