'Twas the Night Before Christmas

Another Christmas has come and gone!
I don't know how it goes by so fast and I'm always a bit sad once Christmas Eve rolls around because I know it's all ending until but I do my best to enjoy every single second of the next two days because they are my favorite.

Christmas eve morning started with a little North Pole Breakfast.  I told our Elf, Elfie to join us for donuts and hot cocoa in the morning and he did.   He probaly should have sat some place else because we had a little mishap with him falling but luckily he was okay!  Anyhow the girls were really happy to wake up to donuts and hot cocoa and it was a fun way to get the day started!

We spent a lot of the morning relaxing and watching Christmas movies.  I put some last minute touches on the table to get ready for Christmas day and did some food prep.

Later in the afternoon the girls decorated their gingerbread houses

Brooklyn pretty much ate any candy that she did not use.

Then it was time to open the advent calender and eat the last chocolate

Two little chocolate Santas

The girls made their reindeer food to sprinkle on the lawn before bedtime.

Then it was back to watching Christmas movies, playing and checking on Santas whereabouts

They took turns being Santa and being reindeer, below Kayla is the reindeer and Brooklyn is Santa but first she is checking to see where she is flying to next.

Christmas eve for mommy and daddy calls for our favorite champagne and homemade lasagna, sausages, bread and a salad.

Hubby was in charge of the sausage

After dinner and a few cookies the girls were ready for their Christmas eve gift

It's always a small little gift for them to play with and below you can see that Brooklyn had no clue what the gift was after she opened it.

Once I explained that they were melting snowmen that you can build and it will melt after she loved it.  She played with it nonstop until it was bedtime

She took a break for baths/showers and then we watched a Charlie Brown Christmas (Brooklyn still played with her snowman)

After the show it was time for the annual reading of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas

Reindeer food was sprinkled on the lawn

and cookies, carrots and milk were put out for Santa and his reindeer

Kayla left a sweet poem she wrote for Santa to take as well.

The girls said their last sad goodbye to Elfie until next year.

and then it was a quick check to see if Santa was nearby before they were tucked into bed for the night.

Hubby and I enjoyed our last glass of champagne and watched Christmas Vacation together as we do every Christmas eve before tucking into bed as well.

Shannon,

If a child could write the script for the perfect Christmas Eve, I am certain this would be it. I love love love the way you all celebrated the most wonderful day of the year. You and your husband are making the best memories for your darling girls!

I am always sad on Christmas Eve too... I hate to see it end!

Enjoy, my friend. And Happy New Year!!
