A Day In The Life

Last Friday I decided to document my day so I could share it over here on the blog.  It's fun to look back at all of my Day in the Life posts from time to time to see how much has changed and what kept us busy at those times in our life.   Friday is my favorite day of the week, the week is over and the weekend is just about to happen!
Since it's unfortunately not Summer yet I wake up around 6:20 and head straight to the shower.

The girls now make their own lunches and get their breakfast all by themselves!!!  Brooklyn has been doing this for quite awhile so I was happy to get Kayla into doing this as well.   I happily walk in after I'm showered and dressed and all I have to do is clean up a bit and sometimes help with cutting.  I prepare my chai latte and we chat while they eat.

Once they are done eating I usually sit in this spot and finish my chai.  Kayla will randomly come in and ask me questions like, "Does this match?" or "Do you like this on?" and sometimes she just comes and tells me things she forgot to tell me about.   She loves to stall and drive me crazy when it comes to not getting ready but I do love that she comes to talk to me continuously throughout the morning.

Everyone loaded up and ready for school.

Dropped of my babies at school and then headed to get some gas

after gas I stopped in to Starbucks for a tea before heading back to the school to help in Brooklyn's class.

As soon as I walked into the school I ran into my favorite ten year old!  She excitedly told me that she reached her 2 Million Words Read and received an award in the morning.   Her teacher sent me this picture soon after.

Brooklyn had a substitute so I was only at the school for about an hour.  I checked in homework and then took a small group of kids to go read and then they took a short test on the book and I was free to go!

After I ran a few errands like hitting up the grocery store for some necessities such as waters and rice krispy treat ingredients

I also stopped in at the library to return a book and pick out a new one along with a trip to Marshall's

I did a quick little refresh in the girls bathroom so I needed some new towels and was happy to find a cute rug to go in there as well.

It looks a little more beachy in there now.

After putting everything away I made a smoothie and then got a whole lot of things done that needed to be taken care.

Brooklyn has a project due this Friday but I wanted to get most of it taken care of over the weekend so since she had already painted the inside of the box I got to work gluing some sand at the bottom of the box for her.

Then I changed my Summer Countdown calendar from 7 weeks to 6 weeks left of school!!!

paid bills

folded laundry

and then look what I found on!
It's amazing that I got anything done afterward.  I have been missing this show so much so I was happy to watch this for a bit.

Good thing rice krispy treats are super easy to make so I could get back to watching Parenthood

Soon enough it was time to wait in the pick up line.   I started my new book while I waited.

Kayla had Early Act on this Friday so I only picked up this cutie.  She came home and decided on a birthday gift to order for Kayla and then we got started on her project.

Just about done but we still have a few finishing touches and then it will be ready to turn it in.

Brooklyn is ready to go back to the school and pick up Kayla.  Last week Kayla wore her shorts over leggings so this week Brooklyn decided to copy her style.  The flip flops with socks is just her being lazy and not wanting to put tennis shoes back on or take off her socks to wear flip flops.

Here comes Kayla

She hoped in and excitedly told me about her new medal she got from a member of the rotary club.  Kayla is the Vice President of Early Act so her and the President received special gifts today.

Back home the girls took early showers because on Fridays we eat dinner and have a movie night.  Daddy picked up Panda Express on his way home and a little after 5 we were ready to watch our movie together.   Oh and Kayla likes to wear her Panda Pajamas whenever we eat Panda Express ;)

Family Movie Nights is one of the reasons Fridays are my favorite!!

We watched The Good Dinosaur, it was so good and very sad!

After that was over we found Indiana Jones so we watched that for a bit before it was time for bed.

Around 8:30 the girls climbed into bed for the night.

I got suckered into a Dateline episode before heading to bed myself.  It was a busy Friday but ended perfectly and along with a great end to our night we didn't have soccer until noon on Saturday which meant we all got to sleep in and enjoy a big family breakfast!

I really enjoyed spending the day with you Shannon.
This really is a good idea. It is hard to believe that someday we may not remember the day to day fun we had with these kids.
You sure got a lot done in one day~
And I love love love your Friday night movie traditions.
Have a great rest of the week out there! : )
