We were up bright and early just like every other Christmas morning. There isn't much sleeping in on this day. The girls were too excited to see what Santa left them and mommy and daddy were excited to surprise the girls with a big gift this year that we knew they were gonna love!
The girls were as patient as they could be before we let them run out and see all of the fun gifts Santa had left.
Love these adorable squishy pillows they received. They are so soft and they've been dragging them around the house to use while they read or play on their tablets.
Santa brought them new scooters too which is perfect for camping and they've been using them almost daily since, while I walk they scooter.
How cute is Kayla's Christmas card she drew for her sister?
I love my Winter fox she drew for me too along with the adorable sign she picked out for me.
Brooklyn purchased these earrings for me from her schools holiday shop and I love them. I'll be wearing them a lot this Winter.
Some handmade gifts Brooklyn made in school for us to hang on our tree.
The girls played and opened a few gifts before they came to these gifts below. They had no idea what they were about to open and I was beyond excited for them.
They were already super happy to see that they got new tablets but there was a card they needed to read along with them.
They have been begging to go on a plane, especially Kayla so the excitement level was now through the roof!
They wanted to know right away where they would be going but we told them they had to open some more presents to find out......
flip flops in box one
snorkel gear in box two!
Brooklyn whispered in Kayla's ear, "I think we are going to Hawaii"
One more box left to find out where they would be flying to,
I've never seen them unwrap presents faster!
Hawaii it is!
They are beyond excited and can't wait and I'm not sure if they are more excited to just be going on a plane or to actually be going to Hawaii!
The rest of the day was non stop talk about our upcoming vacation but also a lot of playing with new toys.
Kayla took a break to face time with her bestie so they could show each other every single present they received.
While Brooklyn never stopped playing with her new Calico Critter school house
While the girls were playing we were prepping for the family to come over to celebrate the day with us.
All the toys were eventually cleaned up and we were ready for our guests to arrive.
Presents were piling up with each new arrival
mashed potatoes were mashed and the girls were happy to help clean the mixers.
The family all together enjoying our Christmas feast.
After we ate hubby and I were cleaning up the kitchen a bit to make room for desserts and I'm pretty sure each one of these kids below came in many different times to ask when we could open presents. They tried so hard to be patient but we were just taking way too long.
Finally it was time and the unwrapping chaos began.
Opening the presents is my favorite part of the night. I love the chaos, the mess everywhere, the kids so excited to see what gift they will receive next and all of the adults gathered close together to watch it all happen.
Big shout out to my husband this year who totally helped and did just about all of the dinner that night. I rarely have time to take care of the details while everyone is at the house but this year I got to walk around right before we ate and light every single candle throughout the house and I loved that.
It was a great day spent with family and just as it does every year it was over way too fast!
