Hawaii ~ Part I

We were out the door and ready to go around 4:45 am a few Wednesdays ago to head to LAX.   We stayed at my parents the night before so my dad could take us to the airport and these girls were beyond pumped for this trip.   They both had never been on an airplane before and could not wait to see what it was all about.

There was zero traffic on our way out and we were so ready to be leaving the cold weather behind to head to the warm beaches of Maui, Hawaii for the week.

We found the perfect spot to sit while we waited and the girls enjoyed watching the planes come in and take off.

Killing time with these weirdos while we waited for our flight.

Finally it was time to board the plane

These two loved the entire flight.  I asked if it was still great even after six hours and they said, 'yes!'   I on the other hand begged to differ, I was surrounded by screaming toddlers and could not get any sleep due to the kids behind me listening to Daniel Tiger way too loudly plus the girl behind the lady next to me was so sick I was sure we would all be sick in no time.   As soon as we landed the little boy behind us thew up so needless to say it was definitely one of my worst flights I've ever been on but the girls did not seem to notice!

As soon as we landed the girls busted out their Hawaii hats and we shed the sweaters because it was 80 degrees and sunny!

We drove to our hotel and were a bit early for check in so while they got our room ready we headed to the restaurant and snacked on nachos and hubby and I enjoyed a beer.

Our room was ready in no time and I remember as we walked to it thinking, 'we must not have that great of a view because it seems we are towards the back'  but as soon as we walked in I realized how wrong I was!

Swimsuits were quickly changed into so we could go straight to the sand.  They played for about an hour until Brooklyn got knocked over by a big wave and we decided maybe some pool time would be better for a bit.

It was happy hour at the pool so we enjoyed a cocktail while the girls swam.  We spent a lot of time at the pool and by the time we actually went to dinner it was 7:30 which meant 9:30 home time.   We were all tired and Brooklyn was falling asleep before we even got to the restaurant.   We decided pizza was our best bet and ate quickly so we could get back so we could all get some sleep.

Our morning views while we enjoyed our coffee were amazing.   Since it was our first full day here we decided to take it slow and relax so after coffee on our patio and eating donuts we had picked up from the supermarket the night before we got in swimsuits and walked along the beach trail to head over to Black Rock on Kaanapali Beach to do some snorkeling.

The weather was warm but there were a lot of clouds and at one point while walking it down poured so we took shelter under a huge tree until it stopped and then we walked on.

A few pictures before we enjoyed our day

Kayla was excited to snorkel and Black Rock is known for seeing sea turtles and lots of other things but due to the stormy weather the water was very murky.   Her and hubby went anyway and saw lots of fish but the moment I went under and saw that it was not very clear I was good staying out of the water so Brooklyn and I played in the sand while they snorkeled.

Eventually we got hungry so we decided to see if we could sneak into the Sheraton pool to order some food and drinks.

The girls swam while we enjoyed some cocktails and waited for our appetizers.

At the time I felt like this day of our trip just spending the day at the pool and on the nearby beach was such a waste because there was so many other things we should've been doing but looking back I'm so happy we just did nothing and I definitely wish we were back there doing it again!

We walked back to our hotel around three so we could shower  up and get ready for dinner.  We knew we wanted to eat at a sushi spot that was known to be very crowded so we had to get there by 4:45ish to get in.  Our walk back along the beach sure was pretty and it was hard not to just set up camp again to relax on the beach for a little longer.

Our dinner at Sansei Sushi was the best ever!   When we arrived there was a huge line out the door but once they opened we got in fast.   We realized everyone gets there early because they offer twenty five percent off their menu for the first hour they are open.   This was very much worth it and we took advantage of trying a lot of different sushi.  The girls ate absolutely everything we ordered and loved it all!  I was so proud of them and this was definitely my favorite dinner we had on this trip.

After dinner we stopped and got the girls some ice cream at the ice cream shop in our hotel then headed up to our room.   Once the girls got in their pj's and on their tablets we left for about an hour to enjoy a cocktail down in the hotel bar.   This was probably the girls favorite night because they got to stay up and play on their tablets.  Kayla asked me everyday after if we would be going down to the bar again that night but we were much too tired every night to do that again on our trip.

Our first full day in Maui was very relaxing and we couldn't wait to see what the next day would bring.
