January has always been the month that seems to last forever but thankfully this January went by a whole lot faster than the years past. It was not one of my favorites for personal reasons so I was happy to see it end. We didn't go many places and just hung out with family for the most part.
We celebrated my birthday and my mother in laws birthday the first weekend of the month and these cousins took great care of us delivering us lots of treats. Back at home this month has consisted of all the healthy food possible. We've been eating a lot of veggies and only one of us here has an issue with eating so many veggies and she's a teenager so we aren't counting her complaining.
Brooklyn had a headache one night so I told her I could fix it and gave her a weighted eye mask and a weighted blanket so she could relax. She came out thirty minutes later and said she felt great.
Netflix & Naps, pretty much sums up our entire month. January has always been a month of just being home and this month was no different.
Kayla is done with her classwork so quickly and is usually found reading while she waits for her next class to begin. I really wish they could just be back at school because I know they aren't learning like they should be!
June's sunbathing spot. She is usually right here enjoying the warmth from the sun.
Brooklyn was very excited to get her cast off even though she knew she was getting another one on. She said she couldn't handle her dirty arm in that same cast any longer.
A happy girl with a fresh cast for another two weeks. She also insisted she keep the old one which I wasn't completely on board with.
Yogurt, granola and raspberries to start of the day.
The majority of January included warm days and felt like Spring.
Kayla asked if we could watch the movie, "Grease" for our Friday night movie night and I was pumped she picked a movie I loved when I was her age.
Along with eating healthy this past month we also made sure to walk two and a half miles a day atleast five times a week.
Kayla made us these pudding parfaits for her videography class while I got to record it for her.
It was a warm evening so I made a delicious shrimp pasta and we ate dinner outside. It was so nice eating outside, reminded me of a Fall night.
With all of the vegetables I've been making the girls eat I thought it was only fair I bake them a treat so oatmeal chocolate chip cookies it was.
Remember Brooklyn's balloon animal kit she got, well she made a bunch and decorated her tree with them along with her old cast on top.
She also did some painting earlier in the month and said she didn't like this one so she said I could have it.
There were a couple of very windy days here in January so documenting this space cleaned up and put back together was needed.
card games at dinner are always fun nights over here!
These four are my favorite thirteen year olds!
Take out and a movie night!
Have you watched, The Peanut Butter Falcon?
I loved it!
I made breakfast and exchanged bacon for turkey bacon, it wasn't that bad but the rest of the family was not on board. Brooklyn kept thanking me for the playdough I made her. :)
I still put out all of our old Valentine's day books and I love that Brooklyn will still go through and read them sometimes
The cast finally came off and she is back to normal!
Kayla and I were reading in bed one night and Brooklyn must have been really bored because she came in with a puzzle she created for us to complete.
The life of a cat
We had not seen my father in law since Christmas so we asked if we could come out and visit. His dog Baxter was obsessed with getting Brooklyn's attention which she was not interested in giving to him at all.
Winter finally arrived the very last week in January. We had rain, snow and cold weather! I very much enjoyed watching Hallmark movies cuddled under a blanket all day
Brooklyn has been wanting to learn how to play the guitar for quite a long time now and for her birthday she wanted one but then decided she wanted a skateboard instead. A few weeks into January she took it upon herself to start learning on an acoustic guitar we had and then eventually came out and said she wanted to use her money to buy an electric guitar. She asked me everyday for updates on when it would arrive, she was so excited!
My brother in law plays so he was so nice to get it all set up for her and even gave her an amp. He took so much time going over the entire guitar and fixing things on it that needed to be fixed in order for her to play it easier. She's been practicing daily and has already learned part of a song just by watching youtube videos. I've loved hearing her play everyday and hope she sticks with it!
Brooklyn finally got to ride her new bike she got for Christmas since her cast was off
She wanted to make a frittata for breakfast, she said she knew how because she made one with her noni so she ran and grabbed her computer, looked up a recipe and made one.
All I did was put it in the oven and take it out, she did the rest and it came out delicious!
I came home from my walk and found these two cuties stretching together getting ready for their run with their daddy.
That was our January!
