Our first weekend of the most wonderful time of the year was spent at the soccer fields of course. Kayla had a tournament and was scheduled for three games. Not only did we all have to wake up at 5:30am but it was raining as well. Not my favorite way to start the weekend that's for sure.
Brooklyn and I opted to hang out in the truck while daddy and Kayla checked in to the tournament and the team warmed up.
Watching three games in the rain was not ideal.
Kayla's last game of the day was running thirty minutes behind which was just enough time for the rain to get worse. We were all tired and ready for the day to be done!
Just a little muddy out there.
My parents came out and braved the pouring rain to watch their girl.
It was quite the day, nine hours at the soccer fields and we still needed to stop in the rain to get a Christmas tree!
Brooklyn was over the entire day!
Both of the girls stayed in the truck while Chris and I picked out a tree quickly. It was not quite how I imagined but life happens and you've just gotta roll with it.
We finally got home and we all showered before decorating the tree.
Lets be honest after the day we had all I really wanted to do was crawl into bed but we needed to get the tree done because we were supposed to go to a holiday party on Sunday so I powered through put out our appetizer dinner and poured some champagne.
I'm pretty sure none of us cared much about decorating the tree. The girls were just basically throwing ornaments wherever and I was much too tired to even care. We didn't even put them all on. I ended up re-decorating the tree a few days later. What we did enjoy was all of the cuddles our kittens were giving. They must have missed us while we were gone all day because they were ready for lots of love.
This guy who 'isn't much of an animal guy' sure loves cuddling with our Oliver!
In the midst of our exhaustion we gave the girls their annual ornament for their trees in their room.
a chinese take out box for our orange chicken fanatic and a watermelon slice for Brooklyn because she would eat only that if we let her.
The star!
Kayla is much too heavy to be picked up now and she opted out of getting up to partake so it was all Brooklyn.
When I ask for a picture of daddy and I and somebody photo bombs us.
The day went no where near the way I wanted it to go but all of us sitting around the tree too exhausted to even decorate it was still so much fun. I love these two so much and cherish these days and the memories we are making even if they don’t go as I imagined.
Sunday morning looked like this and we were all still recovering from the day before.
We ended up canceling our party plans because we definitely just needed a day of home after Saturday.
Later on in the day the girls pulled out some crafting and Kayla made bath bombs while Brooklyn painted.
I ended the evening making my caramels before calling it a day.
Soccer is officially done now and we are happy to have the rest of our weekends to enjoy the holiday. This month goes by so fast and I can't wait for all of the fun that comes along.
