The girls always get one week off from school in February and since time is flying by and in no time we will have a college bound kid we decided we need to start traveling again and fitting in as many family memories as we can! We decided a trip to San Antonio, Texas would be a great way to spend the week. The girls were excited of course, tell them we are going on a plane and they are always all in.
Our flight was bright and early, we were all up and out of the house by three a.m. Coffee, books and movies got us through the flight.
The best of friends, always!
Hello Texas!
We stayed at the Hotel Contessa right on the River walk, it was the perfect location.
We put our bags in the room, freshened up a bit and then went out to explore and find some place to eat. We were starving.
We ate at Cafe Rio
We sat under one of those colorful umbrellas, listened to the mariachi band and people watched while enjoyed our meal.
After we ate we went straight back to the hotel. We were all exhausted from being up at two a.m. so we showered and were all in bed watching a movie before falling asleep by seven.
The next morning we ate breakfast at the cutest spot in town!
Our first spot we found for breakfast had a limited menu and me being the, "I can not eat any of this, it's not healthy" person in the family, I said we needed to find somewhere else. Luckily Chris found Box Street Social which just so happened to be even better than the first place and had lots of healthy options for me to choose from and how cute is he drinking a cup of coffee from a pink mug?
Brooklyn was very upset with me prolonging her breakfast time but after her fresh squeezed grapefruit juice all was good again.
Even the bathroom was adorable, we loved this place!
The best park, Hemisfair Park, was right next to the restaurant.
The girls took off to play as soon as they saw everything.
Brooklyn being the overly cautious child that she is had gone far enough and decided to just sit there. She eventually realized nobody was coming to save her and came back the way she started from. This kid!
I loved watching them play, they were both 5 again. So much giggling from two older girls that morning.
After some time in the park we headed back and found a few shops to look through. Of course we found some cats.
A quick picture right outside our hotel before we went back to our room to get ready for our evening.
After we booked our trip I just so happened to find that the Rodeo was in town the same week we were there and since I am always all in for anything country I found tickets for us to go right away!
None of us had ever been to a rodeo so we weren't sure what to expect and I was just really hoping the girls would enjoy it. We arrived a little early so we could also enjoy the other activities.
Chris here just keeping his options open.
The girls insisted on watching the pig races. I've been to our local fair a million times but I can't remember ever watching the pig races. It was adorable!
Cutest swimming piglet!
I always love seeing all the animals.
We enjoyed all the fair food of course
Obviously my 'eating healthy' was out the window. It's all about balance!
Another show the girls wanted to watch
Finally, it was Rodeo time!
The rodeo was soooooo much fun. We all had the best time watching everything.
After the rodeo, Little Big Town performed which Brooklyn by this point was done and just wanted to go which I knew would happen but the rest of us enjoyed ourselves. Kayla was sitting right next to me and I realized that she was watching me the entire time, if I sang along she would sing along, if I danced, she started dancing. All of a sudden she was a little girl again watching her mom. She is growing up so fast and it was such a reminder that she is still learning so much from us and how important our role is in being parents. It's one of my favorite moments from our trip.
After the concert was over we walked out to more live music and Chris and I danced and shared one more drink before we headed back to the hotel.
We still had two more full days to go but the rodeo was definitely everyone's favorite part of our trip to Texas!
