Kauai

A few days after school got out we took off on a family vacation to Kauai.  We left bright and early and arrived a little after noon.

We were starving so our first stop was food!
We love Poke' bowls so we tried out The Fish Express.  It was near the airport and had great reviews.  It was good but we all agreed we have had much better.

Our bellies were full so we were ready to get to the hotel and start the relaxing.

We all got a welcome lei upon arrival.

It was too early to check in so we checked our bags in, changed into swimsuits and headed to the water.

Hello Ocean!

The girls wandered off to check out the beaches and we grabbed our free mai tais

When our room was ready we stored our luggage and then went down to the beach again.

But first lets just appreciate the complimentary bottle of wine and cookies.  We stayed at Koa Kea resort and we loved every bit of our stay.  Staff was amazing and grounds were beautiful!

The beach was also beautiful!
The girls had no trouble jumping straight into the ocean as soon as we arrived.

We saw our first hint of wildlife on the beach.

After a perfect first afternoon frolicking on the beach and relaxing in the pool Chris and I finished our evening enjoying a glass of the wine we received on our our patio.

It was the perfect ending to our first night.

Not a bad view to wake up to!

Kauai is so green and pretty.

We were staying on the southside of the island but on this day we drove up to the Northside of the island to do some exploring of their beaches but first we needed food.

Hanalei Bread Company was so cute and has rave reviews so we were bummed the kitchen was closed due to short staff but thankfully we were able to order pastries and drinks.  We all got the same guava fruit filled croissant which was so delicious

After we went to Hanalei beach which was beautiful!  We all walked out to the pier together and jumped off of it together which was a fun family highlight.

Mother, daughter matching anklets.  Brooklyn has one too but she did not partake in our picture.

Take me back!!

After a few hours at the beach we drove back into the town and got shaved ice.

Next up we drove to Anini Beach.  The girls immediately went off to explore and then came back.  Brooklyn did not want to hike up a hill they found in a forest area so Kayla came back begging for me to go because I told her she could not go alone.

Eventually I gave in to Kayla and off we went.

The things I do for her
Climbing up a hill in flip flops and a swimsuit was not in my plans for my relaxing beach day.

It was definitely worth it though.
  Look at that view!!

Anini Beach was so pretty.

Trying to get some pictures of the girls but they were too busy goofing around and cracking themselves up per usual.

End of day family selfie

Dinner did not disappoint.
Melt in your mouth pulled pork sandwhiches.

Back at the hotel we found the smallest and cutest gecko that enjoyed climbing all over the girls hands and arms.

We ended the night again on our patio with a glass of wine and Kayla spent some time chatting with her boyfriend out on the chair.

Day 2 and 3 to be continued...
