We took our last beach camping trip this past weekend to Doheny Beach. We had all been looking forward to this trip since I booked it six months ago! I can't believe it was our fifth camping trip since we purchased our trailer last April. We have definitely been taking advantage of having a trailer.
When we first pulled into the parking lot area of Doheny Beach we made a quick stop to fill up our water tank since we were dry camping, no sewer hook ups and no electricity unless we have the generator on. While waiting for daddy to fill up the trailer with water, Ms. Kayla had a bit of a bad attitude looking around saying that the place looked "trashy" I replied by saying we are in the parking lot, not the campgrounds and told her she was going to think otherwise as soon as she saw the ocean.
Sure enough after we set up our spot and Kayla saw the ocean she replied with "I love this beach!" Yup I knew she would.
The girls didn't waste anytime and started playing right away. Hubby and I set up our chairs and enjoyed the views.
The beach was pretty empty Friday but we knew that would change come Saturday morning. It was nice having it mostly to ourselves for the day.
After heading back to the campsite and changing out of swimwear we took Cali for a walk and then came back to eat dinner.
Kayla and daddy played card games while Brooklyn chatted up with a new friend that was camping next to us.
The girls stuck around for some s'mores and then at one point left us to go play cards with their new friend at her campsite. It was strange just hanging around the campfire without the girls, something I'm sure will happen often as they get older! Eventually they all came back over and the girls told some silly stories as we all sat around the fire.
Saturday morning started early with us at the beach by 9am! It was already extremely hot, 90 degrees with no breeze. The worst part about this warm weather was that we did not have air conditioning back in the trailer unless we ran the generator. We could not leave that on while being down at the beach so I was worried about Cali the entire time being too hot stuck in the trailer. Doheny is a no dog beach but eventually everyone had their dogs next to them laying out so I went to the trailer and brought her out to the beach with us. She enjoyed napping on the beach all day! The worst part of the heat was the night, it stayed in the high 70's with no breeze making it extremely uncomfortable trying to sleep in a hot trailer! The only reason I fell asleep on Saturday night was because I was so tired from not getting any sleep on Friday night.
After dealing with the heat two nights in a row and having s'mores around a fire when it is already hot enough without a fire was not making us look forward to our third night!
to be continued....
