Celebrating Our 9 Year Old

Today she is 9!!
It feels like yesterday I was sitting in that lavender chair and rocking her in her room, listening to lullabies or reading her books before bed and nursing her to sleep.  I would love to go back to those days and relive every single one of them but then again it's pretty amazing seeing her turn into who she's meant to be!
So happiest birthday to our big 9 year old who loves playing in the water, is a lover of books, is strong willed, would eat orange chicken everyday, is a roller coaster dare devil, enjoys playing soccer, is a walking encyclopedia, always teaching us something new and is fine being on her own and knows exactly who she is.  We love you so much and are the luckiest parents in the world to have you as our daughter!

On Saturday we celebrated her ninth birthday with her grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousin.

Kayla loves root beer and since she doesn't get soda often I thought it would be a treat to let her have some for her celebration.

She chose the entire meal for her day, cheeseburgers, baked beans(from the can), french fries and fruit.  For dessert she wanted  chocolate~peanut butter banana cream pie and a vegan chocolate cake with strawberries.

For some reason it took this kid many tries to blow out her candle, she cracked herself up trying

Their cousin Jonas is at the perfect age where they can all play together and they have so much fun.

They all loved playing with the balloons, I think Kayla would've been happy with a box full of balloons for her birthday.

It's getting really hard to buy for her because other than books and a few games on her tablet she doesn't play much with other toys unless she is playing with Brooklyns toys.  She has recently been playing with Calico Critters so she got a few more homes and furniture for her collection and spent all day Sunday setting up her city and playing with them.

Not only did she get a great party with the family but on Monday we took her to Knott's Berry Farm and today she will receive her gifts from Brooklyn and us.  I'd say she's having a great time celebrating turning nine!

I can't believe she is 9! I still think of her as the sweet little one year old who I met when I moved out here sometimes. I love seeing the awesome person she has turned into! Happy birthday, Kayla!!
