Paso Robles Getaway

A couple of weeks ago we celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary with a weekend getaway up to Paso Robles.   Paso is about 4 1/2 hours from us and I love the drive up because it is so beautiful and stopping for a quick bite to eat in Summerland to break up the drive is always a fun part of the trip.

After we ate we walked across the street because I had not had any coffee yet and I knew the rest of the drive would be much better with a cappuccino to enjoy.

We knew the place we would be staying was going to be pretty but driving up and seeing it was even better than we thought.

Our room was above the carriage house up the stairs.

It was decorated perfectly and their were so many little treats just waiting for us.   We will definitely be staying here again if available!

The view right out our door

After oohhhing and ahhhing over this cute place we were off to visit a couple of wineries before dinner.

We chose Tobin James as our first spot because this place in the past was sooo fun!  Country music blaring, loud people having a good time, just all around a fun vibe except this day when we walked in the music was turned down low and our server was not the greatest.  It definitely was not what we were hoping for.

After there we headed to Bianchi Winery.   The wines were really good here and the place was pretty.  They had a large pond with fish and spots to picnic.

For dinner we went to eat at Firestone Brewery

After wine tasting we switched to beer tasting and ate the most delicious dinner.

My fig and prosciutto pizza was amazing!

The next morning we started our day off enjoying coffee in our room and took our time getting ready before going out for more wine tasting.

Sculpterra was our first stop and the grounds were gorgeous and their wine, every single one was delicious.   They had live music and a taco man on the grounds but after we walked around and enjoyed the sculptures we decided to sit in the front of the winery where it was much less crowded and quieter.

We brought our own snacks and set up to relax for awhile.

We chatted with a fella who worked for another local winery.  He gave us a bunch of recommendations and hubby and him talked cars.  His dog decided he liked us and ended up walking over and sitting with us until it was time for them to leave.

We went to a couple of other wineries and all through the day we kept trying to remember a winery we came to years ago and really liked.  For the life of us we could not remember the name of it or where it was.

Our last winery was Rava winery.   This spot was definitely my least favorite.  The vibe and the service was not great and the wines were not that good.   We decided last minute that we didn't want to end our day here so we decided we would try stopping at one of the wineries that the fella earlier in the day recommended.

As we drove up hubby immediately said, "this is the place!"

It was the place we had been to all those years ago but couldn't for the life of us remember the name of.   We laughed at how random it was that we ended up here by accident and how it was so meant to be.  We walked in to wine taste and met the nicest people, an older lady was tasting and didn't hear us right but thought we said we didn't have a place to stay yet so she invited us to stay with her if we needed somewhere to stay.   The other couple was off to see Ringo Starr nearby and we talked music with them before they left.   The winery was closing soon so we were now a little sad that we weren't going to get as much time there when they told us they were staying open late today and would have live music and would be grilling up sausages in a bit.   We quickly decided we were good not going out to a fancy dinner and would be happy just sitting out on the lawn listening to music with some wine.   Our day ending at Stillwaters Winery could not have been more perfect!

The next morning we were packed up and ready to go.   We left with a few delicious wines to share and joined the wine club at Stillwaters Winery so we are really looking forward to our first package of wines coming next month.

Leaving was so bittersweet but I was looking forward to seeing the girls who were having too much fun at their grandparents.   Brooklyn won way too many rubber ducks and they both enjoyed hanging out in the jacuzzi with all their ducks.  It's nice leaving for a fun little getaway when we know these two are having a great time where they are at as well.

Your weekend sounds wonderful! I love the place you stayed and the area sounds nice. I have heard of Paso Robles before but I'm not sure where it is. I'm going to look it up.
Hope you are doing good.
